Diana and Percy enjoyed their ride to work this morning and enjoyed even more the exciting greeting they received from my co-workers. We took a little break outside before heading off to our vet appointment at lunchtime. Percy’s brief exam was first since he had just had a complete checkup in April. All is well, his cyst are of a fatty nature, not connected to any muscle tissue. The bump on his right front leg is not significantly larger than it appeared in April.

Diana had a full check-up including; CBC, Urinalysis, Complete comprehensive panel, and dental scrape. All tests were within normal range.

On this date Percy weighs 19.2 and Diana weighs 21.2 pounds.    

I’ve been evaluating cars to determine which one is the best value for cost/longevity/mileage. A small hatchback with lots of inside flexibility seems to be the current need; Good gas mileage for back and forth to work and on routine and infrequent week end trips to dog shows and holidays, reasonable cost so that I can pay it off prior to retirement, and lightweight and durable for towing behind a camper for the long term. I would like this to be my last new car purchase; however there may be a truck in my future if an RV trailer makes more sense than a motor home.  

 

Last night was Rogers Choctaw class. His Choctaw language skills are vastly improved. 

  I enjoyed a relaxed, lazy evening with the fur-kids. As is the order of the day, l immediately started watering gardens and the flower baskets. So thankful for soaker hoses! After changing into some very comfortable clothes, putting away cleaned dishes, and starting the washer; I made some popcorn and a large glass of ice water.  We had a fun time watching Tommy Boy and munching on popcorn.  By 9 PM I was showered and ready for bed. LOL   How boring am I?!

Got any RATS to scare away?

I am not a fan of 100+ degree HOT/humid weather. Roger on the other hand, loves the heat. Ugh!

Last evening Roger treated us to another one of his famous marathon grilling  sessions.

He has developed quite the grilling talent! Smoked chicken, bratwurst from Perry’s, our favorite local meat market, Cajun Boudin sausage  from Hebert’s Specialty Meats, Grass feed Sirloin steak,  and ¾ inch bone in pork chops grilled with Fresh Rosemary.

For veggies we had grilled onions, green beans, yellow & green bell peppers and home grown tomatoes.

It was a feast, but now it is all safely stowed away for another time. Dinner time is fast and easy as well as delicious when the main course is ready to warm and serve.

Percy is going to see the vet tomorrow for a bump on his front leg. Normally I would not be concerned because it appears to be just a fatty tumor, but this one has been bothering him. DOB-09/05/2001.

Diana is also going along just for a blood panel. She is such a drama queen that it is hard to know if she is just being sluggish out of boredom or if she is not feeling well.

 While at the training school she is thrilled to do obedience and agility work with gusto, but at home she is a pillow-pet.  A blood profile is good to have for future reference anyway.

Aren't they the cutest?!

The weather put a damper on our plans this week end. I bought a big tent and thought it would be fun to just hang out at this cool place we found a few weeks back. Just to relax, read, nap, fish, splash around in the river,  stare at the campfire, and completely chill for one evening was the plan. When we heard it was going to be 100+ we decided to put that off until wonderful chilly fall weather. I am not a fan of this sweltering heat!

Saturday Roger tried to get us to go downtown to the steak cook off but couldn’t find any takers. Instead I sent him to the grocery store for a rotisserie chicken for dinner; served with my homegrown green beans and Yukon Gold potatoes. Dylan loves my fresh veggies!

Roger painted a little more on the living room. The grey paint perfectly accents the beautiful new teal color, but it looks too dark for the ceiling. So,  the ceiling will have to be  white to match the trim.  It’s going to be a lovely room, if we ever get it finished. Chuckle. I need to get stay home and get busy!

We settled in for a movie night Saturday evening and found on Amazon Prime a Robin Williams comedy, World’s Greatest Dad 2009.  This may be the most disturbing movie I have ever had the displeasure of watching. Not only is it NOT a comedy, it is twisted and unbelievably sad. In this movie his son is a stupid 15 year old jerk that no one likes. Robin plays a frustrated writer and a sad school teacher. His son accidently kills himself by choking

his self while masturbating, and the Dad covers it up by faking it as a suicide.  You think for a time that maybe some good is going to come out of his cover-up; only to end up smashing that thought and leaving you with a complete forbearing sadness. This would be a horrible movie even without the recent tragic news of Robin Williams own suicide.  I am left with the feeling that some of Robin’s own childhood might have been portrayed by this kid.  

Sunday we got the fur-kids out for a little work-out at dog school, and spent a great amount of time grooming and cuddling on the sofa.  Diana is beginning to catch on to obedience, but loves agility. Miss B. (Belize) was a spaze as always, but eventually calmed down.

Big Deal Alert! Sunday afternoon we headed to Wal-Mart to have a few pictures made at the kiosk, and while we waited for them to process, walked around the store. Unbelievably, I found large filets of wild caught frozen salmon for $5.00! It was delish for dinner along with my homegrown yellow squash.  Another Dylan favorite. Dessert was sweet fresh strawberries, yummy!    

Dylan is trying out the new craze; flavored Lays potato chips; this time cappuccino. Totally disgusting!

The highlight of the week end was playing Mexican Domino’s. Even Dylan, the self-professed teenage genius, thought it was great fun. LOL.  Now that we are ready to go professional with this game, we are ready to take on some competition.  

Roger & Jim - what a great visit!

Mom found out late Friday that the community center is not available for Jason & Aiko’s wedding celebration on Oct. 18^th. So, I have a couple other places to follow up on today.

She also tells me she has composed a guest list and that Sandy is getting the addresses for mailing out invitations.

Once again, I am seriously considering a new car. I cannot trust it to go further than a few miles down the road and certainly cannot take the dogs in this heat. It may be time to ditch it and start over with the dreaded car payments. L

HOT week end! I suppose we have been lucky this year, but now the heat is on. Current temp is 102 degrees and it's only 2PM. I'm staying inside as much as possible.
Just a pain trying to do this on my Kindle Fire. Later...

Sparkle Day! Happy ONE WEEK ANNIVERSARY to my handsome son and his beautiful bride. I hope you have a hundred years of bliss!

 A busy evening last night after work. It's crazy time at work with school starting up and it seems everything is an emergency! RUSH RUSH RUSH  - PUT OUT FIRES! 

No food in the house we Had to get out to the stores to restock. After fixing dinner we headed to Sam's and as usual spent way too much money, but at least now we can make a decent meal. Jason called just as we were walking in the door. He and Aiko had been jogging. Big event coming up Oct.11th - he will run his first full marathon. Pretty darned impressive!

My first post

Got to sleep-in this morning, at least by the normal work day schedule.  Picked my car up at the shop after work so now I have wheels again. A few months ago my 2003 Saturn VUE cost me $1200.00 in repairs. Yesterday the bill was only $500.00, so I hope we are back on track with keeping the Scottie mobile going. It's about time for a new car but dam!, I can't bare the prices of new cars these days. My other dilemma is what kind of vehicle do I need? Something small with great gas mileage or a truck that can pull a camper. It seems I need two vehicles! 


I was finally able to catch up with my old friend Julie today by phone. We both agree we need to make a point to chat once a month to keep in touch. I am thrilled that she and Mark are able to live the good life now in Florida, They earned it; but I sure do miss them.


Tonight Roger and I will finally have a chance to make it to the grocery store for our monthly purchases. We can not be without Basic items like coffee and artichokes. LOL

I bathed Percy, Belize and Diana last evening, so they are smelling fresh and shining. Tonight we will get them brushed out and grind their toenails again. We are entered the Elk City OK dog show Sept. 6 & 7.   They start back to Agility classes Sept. 17th. Belize & Diana will both be back in the beginner class so they can be on the same training schedule.  They will be ready for some Agility trails soon.
